Let’s talk about water. Quick water, good water

Let’s talk about Water.

I wish water will be available for all. We can easily take water for granted especially when you live in a country with over 180,000 lakes, clean and efficient distribution systems. I have been to a few places in the world and very few can dispense warm and cold water in milliseconds as in Finland.

Why am I talking about water?

Today, I got out of the gym after an intense 45 minutes workout and rushed to an automatic faucet. Thirsty and wanted water desperately, my hand missed the sensor and the water seized for almost half a second. I tried and tried but the water didn’t come out until a third attempt.

Then I remember childhood. We will play football after school for hours without water. And after 2 hours of running up and down in ‘larger than life’ improvised football jerseys, we would be exhausted.

Where is water?

Where there is a well, there wouldn’t be a “fetcher” as we called it even there seems to be no word like that in English language. “Drawer” would have been closer.

Where there was water, it was bad. Dirty clothes became filters. All in the yearn for water.

And there wouldn’t be water. And we will endure half hour or sixty minutes walk back home to finally access good water. All along, thirsty.

For some, there was no good water at all. And in some corners of our world, bad water is a luxury.

And so today, I wished we will all someday have access to water:

Quick water. Good water.
